"Nubian Goddess" Acrylic, Oil and Casein on Board, 2018
About this painting: There is a magical realm where the inner depths of our consciousness dwells. This is a place where our ancestors stand frozen in time like giant pillars of stone. Through dreams, meditation or medicine journeys we can access this place. It exists between places, it is there but not there. Envision your fully activated light body as a spinning star tetrahedron. As an orb of light, we can travel anywhere, protected by our own aura. This is a reality that I believe in.
This original painting is available for sale, and comes framed with maple burlwood. Over 200 hours of work went into this large painting..
Message from the Kogi, acrylic, oil and casein on board, 2018
I spent a month backpacking in Colombia back in 2014, I was honored to be invited to a mountain blessing ceremony, that was being attended by the indigenous Kogi Mama's (priests) I spent so much time sleeping on the earth, being close to the heartbeat of the planet, participating in community and village life, included as a child of the planet. I have never felt so at one with the natural world. During my stay, one of the Mamas told me that I have an urgent message to deliver. Please read this following excerpt By Louis Mejia for Labyrinthina.com, All Rights Reserved. "We work to take care of the world.
We respect the Mother Earth... [W}e know that the land is our Mother Earth.
If we plant an orange tree or any type of tree and then dig it up by the roots it will die. Digging out the earth’s gold is the same thing. It could die. We’ve all heard many stories that the world is dying. Why is it dying? It is because they have robbed so many tombs. The world is like a person. Robbing tombs, stealing its gold, it will die. We don’t take out the earth’s gold. We know that it is there but we do not take it. We know from our divinations that the advice of the Mother is not to take the gold. We know where it is but we decide only to make offerings to it.
How is it that we are able to live? Without blood we cannot live and without bones we cannot walk. Here all the Mamas [teachers, custodians of Kogi cosmological thought] are in agreement about what it is we are going to say and how to speak. If i cut off my foot I cannot walk. When they [the Younger Brothers, us] dig into the earth and take it’s gold it is the same thing....Gold has it’s own thought and it can speak. It is a living being. They must stop stealing it.
If they take all the gold the world will end. The Mothers of banana trees, of all the trees and of all the birds, they have all been stolen. They are cutting off the flesh of the Mother’s body. They have taken everything. They have stolen the spirits of all things from the Mother. They are stealing the very spirit and thought of the Mother.
It is the mountains which make the waters, the rivers and the clouds. If the trees are felled they will not produce any more water. We do not cut down the trees that grow by rivers, we know that they protect the water. We do not cut down huge areas of forest like the Younger Brother does, we cut small clearings for our fields. The Mother told us not to cut down many trees, so we cut very few, tiny patches.
If the Younger Brother keeps cutting down all the trees, there will be fires because the sun will heat the earth.... We are the Elder Brothers so we have to think clearly.... Younger Brother, stop doing it. You have already taken so much. We need water to live. The Mother told us how to live properly and how to think well. We’re still here and we haven’t forgotten anything.
The earth is decaying, it is losing its strength because they have taken away much petrol, coal, many minerals. Younger Brother thinks, Yes! Here I am! I know much about the universe! But this knowing is learning to destroy the world, to destroy everything, all humanity.... The Mother is suffering. They have broken her teeth and taken out her eyes and ears. She vomits, she has diarrhoea, she is ill.
If we cut off our arms, we can’t work, if we cut off our legs, we can’t walk. That is how it is with the Mother. The Mother is suffering. She has nothing.
Does the Younger Brother understand what he has done? Does he?
The Overself Awakens, acrylic on canvas, 36" x 48"
This painting represents my awakening to a higher sense of purpose and perception. It is about non -duality, that we are indeed made of the same stardust as everything else in this universe. It is about finding inner peace and the great power in stillness.
The archetypes of Gods and Goddess live within us, Shiva and Aman-Ra have been very influential in my awakening, so this painting is dedicated to those beings. It is over 4 years of paintings being painted on top of painting. It wasn't ever finished or right. I could never get it done, but I have finally pushed through those barriers. There are many paintings underneath this and you can see them through the layers of glazes. "I know not what I am; but I know what I am not. That way I am un-bound. This is the path to freedom" -Lord Shiva

"Priest of Atlantis" (2016) Oil on Board, 12x16 Inches
This painting was done over the course of three weeks at the Vienna Academy of Visionary Artists seminar at the Torri EcoVillage in Italy, 2016. It is a memory of a distant past. I learned this style of painting from my teacher, Amanda Sage. It is in the Mischtechnik that Ernst Fuchs utilized with a successive layers of hatching in white tempera and many glazes of oil.
The Fiery Raven, acrylic on canvas, 2014
The painting serves as a metaphor for a period of my life where I was finally really able to love myself wholeheartedly. It stands for rebirth into the new world. It came when I decided to live authentically in every moment, and to really try to live in the moment. This painting came at a time with the realization that I am the only one who can really make me happy, or sad or any other feeling.
Seed of Life, acrylic on board, 2015
The wood grain on this sanded plywood board helped me along on a journey of exploration between two worlds. The watery world and the desert world. I painted this in about 4 hours at Cascadia Festival and before I thought I had finished it someone bought it. They love it just the way it is.
