Gary M.W.M. Evans Bio

Gary was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, January 19, 1981. He has 7 nationalities, truly a child of the Earth. He was influenced heavily by Asian art, sculpture and design, as his talented Korean grandparents were collectors of rare antiques, his grandmother was a painter and grew prize orchids. In his youth, Gary aligned with the alternative crowd, skaters and surfers, joined a Ska Band playing Saxophone, he was different.  He daydreamed, he drew and wrote poetry at every chance.

Gary pursued an education in painting at University of Oregon. He struggled with his other studies, but excelled in Art, especially pastel landscapes and surreal art. His insatiable appetite for understanding how things work led him to become a serious student, bouncing from college to college over 8 years and received a degree in Automotive Technology from LCC, working as a mechanic, then an Architecture degree at Portland State University with a focus on Ancient History and Art. He studied tattooing at the Oregon School of Tattoo Arts, and earned a license to tattoo.

In his 20's, he worked nearly every field of construction and at two architecture firms as a draftsman. He also ran his own design/build practice and remodeled many homes, built tiny homes, food carts, art installations at Burning Man and other festivals. He had rediscovered his love for painting at 30 and realized this to be his deepest passion, he discovered his spiritual work.

Gary has been searching for elders and indigenous cultures his whole life so that he could remember his ancient ancestors and past lives. He has since studied woodblock printing from Maestro Abraham in Oaxaca City, Mexico, climbed the most active volcano in the world, sat with Elders in several sweat lodges in South America and journeyed with Ayahuasca. He was given the knowledge of the prophecy of the Eagle and the Condor, that the tribes from North America and South America will be reunited once again.  He has been journeying across the world, often alone, collecting pieces of the puzzle. He now meditates,  goes on journies to other planets and realities in his dreams, participates in ceremony and knows that he is indigenous, we all are.

Gary now runs an art Gallery here in Portland, Oregon called Earthearts where he sells various creations as well as the art of Visionary Masters. Please purchase some, it will help him and them to continue walking their paths as as artists and spreading visions and positive messages. Thank you for taking the time to read this. I bought a Thangka Painting from my teacher, Tirtha Lama when I was travelling in Nepal.  I learned the basics of Thangka painting while there. It is truly incredible to study with masters all over the world and incorporate their teachings into my own art and style.
